Hi Andy,

i have no idea why it does not work on your installation.

Please help to find the issue:
- try to play both files
- move the file out of your library and rescan
- move it back to the library and rescan

Thanks Frank.

Yes, I do agree it is a strange one and I was thinking of doing just as you suggested, but I haven't had the time to get to it yet.

I will try that and see if it makes a difference and let you know how it goes. :)

Edit: Do you think it could have anything to do with file permissions at all?

I know on Synology NAS at least, with an ext4 file system that permissions can get messed up and yet they appear perfectly normal, until you rewrite them, then they behave as they should. It's not something that happens all the time, but it's not unheard of either.

Synology DS214+ -> RP3 -> Hifiberry Digi+ -> Audio-Gd NOS1704 (coax) -> Audio-GD C-2 preamp/headphone amp ->

1) Yamaha M-4 Power Amp -> Energy Pro 22 Speakers OR 2) HiFiMan HE-400i

Just for kicks, if you login via SSH and navigate to your Synology via /mnt/MPD/NAS/<DISKSTATION I think in your case>

and navigate to the folder holding that album, do an ls -l, what is the modifiation date on that Flock of Seagulls track? Does it jive with the last time you ran your tagger program against the track?

One more thought....

Is it possible that same album exists somewhere else in your folder hierarchy? If it does, that could explain this as well.

EDIT: Well, wait a minute...you're looking at it from the library by Album aren't you...grrrr. ;) Grasping at straws...

@KHatfull
Firstly, as Frank pointed out, most tagging programs do not alter the timestamp for the file, so no, the timestamps have not changed.

Secondly, I am viewing by Artist and that file exists on my PC and my NAS, but RuneAudio has no access to the files on my PC, only on my NAS.

@Frank
I deleted the file 24 - A Flock Of Seagulls - I Ran (So Far Away) [Re-Recorded].mp3 off my NAS completely. I then did an MPD update and the incorrect entry was deleted from the Artist's list. I then replaced the above file back onto the NAS and deleted another troublesome file, 01 - A-Ha - Stay On These Roads.flac, and then I did another MPD update.

Now the Artist list is correct for A Flock Of Seagulls and if I click on it to view the list of albums, then all the relevant albums are listed and clicking on the What A Feeling! Mega 80's Boombox album revealed absolutely no trace of this track, 24 - A Flock Of Seagulls - I Ran (So Far Away) [Re-Recorded].mp3, it had not been added again.

I replaced the file 01 - A-Ha - Stay On These Roads.flac and updated MPD again, and it worked. The file has all of the corrections and is displayed.

I also went back and checked 24 - A Flock Of Seagulls - I Ran (So Far Away) [Re-Recorded].mp3 and it too is listed now.

I hope you can find a better solution to this issue, having to remove files, replace files and update many times gets very tiresome to say the least, especially when you have a lot of files to deal with and a rescan takes so long. :(

Frank, you are really going to hate me (Sorry!), but I have found some more issues while dealing with the issue of incorrect tracks not being deleted/added etc.

1. When you tap on the screen too quickly, or too many times, the screen will turn white and display a blank page with nothing on it or sometimes it will display a browser window. I have not found any way to get back to the Rune Audio screen short of shutting it down and then restarting it.

Controlling it from my PC has no effect and the screen simply remains white or with the browser window displayed.

Do you know of any way around that?

2. Another issue that I have found with MPD, is that if you have two albums with the same album title, it is grouping those albums together as one larger album.

For example, I have these two Albums in my collection:

Hall And Oates - 2001 - The Best Of
The Church - 1999 - The Best Of

If you go into Artists and then scroll down to The Church and then you select the Best Of, it will list the contents of the Hall And Oates - 2001 - The Best Of and then the contents of The Church - 1999 - The Best Of, as though they were one album by the same artist, in this case The Church.

Obviously, MPD is discarding the artist and year part of the album name and then grouping because of the same title of the album.

Also, any album named Greatest Hits are grouped together as well, and I have quite a few of those. :(

Apologies for throwing all of this at you at the same time, but if you could add these things to your growing 'To Do' list I would appreciate it. :)

Oh, and I found a very nice write up on Instructables about how to install and setup RuneAudio. Well done guys and gals!! :)

Thanks Frank,

I applied that fix for the white screen issue and it is working well. :)

Cheers. :mrgreen:
