Linear power via surge protector

Postby vonbonds » 02 Oct 2016, 03:47

Hello all,

This is my first post but so far I'm loving my RPI2 with a digi+ feeding my 2 channel audio setup. The only thing I think I'm missing from reading about advanced setups is linear power. I'm curious if powering an RPI2 from a outlet would do the trick regulating power to the RPI2 versus other DIY projects I've seen on the web which I'm not skilled enough to pull off.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Why not plugging your Pi into a battery pack? It's a dirt cheap solution compared to UPS setups...

I never thought of battery power. How long would that last for? Does it matter if I use rechargeable baterries too?

I'm using a 10Ah pack that holds about 10 hours (Pi + Digi+) - and these packs are practically rechargeable batteries serial connected.

Just to close the loop on this I went with an "iFi Audio iPower 5V DC Power Adapter" that I purchased off of amazon.com. Delivery took 3 days even though it stated something like 10 when I clicked buy it now. So far so good although I didn't hear any issues before I just figured I'd try to have as "clean" and well built a DIY streamer as I was capable of doing which after all is half of the fun of DIY :).
