Runeaudio won't work after network change

Postby Igor » 16 Sep 2017, 09:26

Hi guys,

I don't know where to ask this so I opened new topic.
I have raspi3 and hifiberry dac+ pro and runeaudio (0.4 beta) installed for about a year now and everything worked fine until yesterday.
Yesterday I changed internet provider and I have new network and runeaudio doesn't work anymore, even with enthernet cable connected to a router. Problem is it won't open on webpage.

I installed runeaudio from the beggining again on a different micro sd card, and connected it with an ethernet cable and I can't access it through webpage. I tried with http://runeaudio and http://runeaudio. and http://runeaudio.local and IP address and nothing works.
When I open Network on my pc, I can see an icon of Runeaudio, so it's on the network, but I can't access it through webpage, even though it's connected with ethernet cable to a router.

Since I'm not an expert (obviously  ), is there something I should do in network settings or router settings since everything is new?
Thanks in advance,
Igor

Please forgive me I somehow missed the end of your post so I suggested something you already tried. Sorry.

Can you hook your RPi to a monitor?

Is DHCP still enabled through your router? Can you see the RPi listed through the DHCP devices?

Note: I'm sorry if I'm just giving you dead ends/suggestions you already know, I have very little experience with Rune & Linux, just throwing some ideas around to hopefully help you stumble upon something.

Okay, seems interesting (& frustrating of course) can you try to access it via SSH?

You can download PuTTY if you use a Windows machine from the first link provided on this webpage https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/remote-access/ssh/windows.md and then follow the instructions below that.
(I believe the default hostname is runeaudio) default root credentials are:
Code: Select all
user: root
password: rune

If you can then access it, maybe try to 'update the system' via these commands:
Code: Select all
cd /var/www
git stash
git pull

^If you execute these commands and get an error, follow this link for a hopeful fix http://www.runeaudio.com/forum/git-pull-not-possible-t3723.html

Furthermore, you can try a new image following this link http://www.runeaudio.com/forum/runeaudio-0-4-beta-for-raspberry-pi2-3-t4434.html not sure if it'll actually help rather than just take more effort and time, but maybe worth a shot if all else fails.

Rebooting the router may well have resulted in the ip address for Rune being changed, unless you have it set to a static address. Check it's still the ip address you expected, either in the Explorer network view or using something like Advanced IP Scanner (an open source download).

Apologies if you've tried this already ...

Hi Igor

As Ian said your router will have re-assigned new IP addresses to all your DHCP devices.

If you right-click the RuneAudio network icon on your PC and hit 'Properties' it should show you the IP address that Rune is connected to. The address should also be listed in your router's settings page.

Use this address into your web browser and unless any other part of your setup has been changed there is no reason it shouldn't work.

I think it's better to set up a static IP to avoid such problems.

As everyone else has said, apologies if you've tried this already.

Hi guys,
thanks for your advices. When I access my router I can see runeaudio icon and I can see its IP adress, so it's not about that.
But I'll make it static like you guys said.
But it's still not working, and I'ts really frustrating.
I installed moode audio on another sd card and it's working, both with ethernet cable and wireless.
It looks to me like something is blocking it, but I can't figure out what.
