EuropaJazz streams won't play?

Postby MuseChaser » 27 Jan 2024, 22:09

I've been using RuneAudio for years, and love it... three different Pi boxes, built 0.4b... and completely successfully playing all kinds of files from my NAS, and streaming some great HD webradio stations. For some reason, the EuropaJazz streams won't play anymore. I've checked the addresses carefully, and they play fine w/in a browser on a Win10 laptop, and from within Vlan on the same machine.

Here's the address..

https://onair.europaradiojazz.org/radio/8000/hd

Playing it within Vlan yields the following codec info...

MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a)
Stereo, 44100 Hz, 32 bit

Another stream I listen to frequently still plays fine, and it's similar in structure...

Here's the link to this station (WQXR)

http://njpr.wnyc.org/wqxr.aac

Vlan reports the stream info as
Codec: MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a)
Stereo 48000 Hz
32 bit
AAC extension SBR

Any ideas why EuropaJazz won't play? Can anyone duplicate the issue?

I just noticed that EuropaJazz is a secure http . .. "https://etc..." rather than "http://". NONE of the other streams I listen to are https:// sites. Perhaps that is part of the problem, although I don't know why. The only other change in my system was a change in internet providers from a standard cable company (Spectrum) to one of the more recent 5g home internet providers. The connection is great, and we don't have any other issues with our service. Is there anything about THAT that would affect this? Just mentioning it in the interest of completeness.

Thank you for any help.

Hi MuseChaser,

I can't reproduce the problem on RuneAudio 0.6-beta, see: runeaudio-0-6-beta-for-most-raspberry-pi-models-t7585.html#p32639. The stream plays: Stereo, 16-bit, 44.1 kHz at just under 320kb/s. Both http://... and https://... work fine. Some streams are subject to country based filtering, but this works on Windows for you, so it should be OK.
