0.3 Beta on Udoo schedule

Kilgore

Thanks ACX. Got a few other projects on the go at the moment, but once they are out of the way I'll go down the CubieTruck route if 0.4 isn't around.

Kilgore

Hi there ACX. I just went to buy a Cubieboard3 (because I'm after a board with native SATA) but chickened out when I saw the cost.....the Australian $ has nosedived over the last year and this is now approaching $200. So before I take the plunge and get rid of my Udoo, I thought I'd better check in and ask if an Udoo release will be on the cards at all. If not, then OK no problem I can move on. But if it is still on your schedule I will hold off a little longer.

ACX

It's still on our schedule. We'll try to push on this front during this month.

Kilgore

Thanks ACX, that's great to hear.

dr165

Great, hope for UDOO still alive!

ericriplay

We can hardly wait for the release, thank you ACX!

Kilgore

Any news on the Udoo front? It would be great to be able to play around with it over the Christmas break if it was released before the end of the year.

I'm being honest with you telling that it won't be possible to release it before the end of the year...

Kilgore

Happy New Year ACX and the rest of the Rune Team! I hope you had a good one.

We have a saying .... 'Hope springs eternal' and so I'm hoping that 2016 will be a good year for us Udoo owners.

Kilgore

Hi ACX.
Just wondering if there has been any progress with this. It would be great to be able to spend some time over Easter with Udoo and Rune.

Orion

Hi Kilgore,
we are working hard to create our new distro build process that will be used to create images for the various platforms, including UDOO (and many others).
So don't loose the faith and stay tuned.

Ciao.
Simone.

Kilgore

thanks for the update Simone.
Cheers from Down Under!

Kilgore

Hi Simone, I'm still tuned in, but I guess there is no news?

I am considering trying to sell my now two year old Udoo board and instead get myself an ODROID. I'd prefer to use the Udoo as it has provision for direct connection of a hard drive via SATA and my plan was to build a 'stand alone' solution. But it has been a long wait and I'd like to get moving. Is a release for Udoo still planned?

Cheers from Down Under, Kim

Kilgore

OK....looks like Udoo is off the list.
ODROID here I come.

Kilgore

Just thought I'd update this thread. I asked about Udoo on the General Discussion forum a few days ago and below is the reply by ACX » 20 Jul 2016, 22:56 in case you own an Udoo and did not see the message.

I'm afraid we won't be able to release the new version before the end of summer, and the UDOO image could take a bit more time to be ready, even if it will share the same system base with all the other platforms. If you are tired to wait you might consider to buy the ODROID (which is a very good platform btw).

So it is still in the pipeline.
