RuneAudio 0.3-beta for Raspberry Pi

metalrob

Hi all!

Revision of revision: Discovered some bugs:

If I'm switching between 2 webradio stations I have stored in the playing queue rune audio often stucks- looses connection.
Then a reboot via ssh is necessary.

Sometimes it happens, that radio stations I've stored under 'My Webradios' aren't shown, or only one (I've stored 2) is shown.
Also it happens from time to time that stations that are selected do not appear in the playing queue. Then I have to repeat the selection.

Further I have to remember, that first time installation and adjustment is still tricky. Wlan connection is really hard to get and I see no 'masterplan'
in doing this save. It seems to connect after a long time playing around or sometimes shorter. one time it even connected immediately after doing the settings- thats pretty driven by random.

Also the MPD setting does not really work after saving changes. Fortunately the settings are stored after ssh- reboot
Audio output, allthough i2s selected show hdmi or onboard after restart. That is practically not a problem thanks to the fact that anyway only one output works- and i2s is always working despite of the wrong indication.

Generally there is some instability in the system.

As per my previous post

Does anyone have a hint on what I should to to mount (and automount) an ExtFs formatted USB disk?
It was working with 0.3 alpha, but it's no longer working with 0.3 beta.

This 2Tb disc contains all my Flac... for the moment I mounted a samba share from another device where I have less space (still 1Tb) so I do have a lot of my music.
Nevertheless I would like to find a long term solution.

Thanks for any help

Thanks to the RuneAudio developpers team for this nice beta release. I wish to ask which DLNA server is working on windows XP in order to use this new feature on RPi. Thanks.

Hi! I see that DAC 9018 k2m (i2s connection) do not support again? It'a pity

And how I can see HDD, connect with USB-Sata link to Raspberry, in network devices (for copy or delet files)?

rhodo wroteThe behaviour is exactely the same, moving the button makes it immediately jumping back to 100.
Tomorrow I'll test that personally, it was working fine the last time I used that hardware configuration.

Ok, I've just tested it and I also experienced the same problem. We are probably going to fix it already today.

Stwert wrote1) After selecting Spotify on the library page, it took me a very long time to figure out how to get back to my regular MPD library. It seems the only way to switch playback source is to go the playback page and click the Spotify button? It would be preferable to select the source also on the library page since that's where I would be choosing my music. (i.e. don't have the other buttons disabled when spotify is selected, and just have the "Playback Source" popup like when choosing spotify.)

Yes, I'm going to enhance the UX on that soon. The Spotify integration was made in a rush because we already had the release date planned before considering it, so we had to simplify things.

Stwert wrote2) I've got hardware volume control enabled (got the IQaudIO DAC+) but with Spotify, there's no volume control (greyed out at 100). Is this possible to include?

Yes, it will be in the future.

Stwert wrote3) Looking at the commentary on sound quality for various volume options, why would hardware volume control have lower quality than disabled? I get why software might reduce the quality, but isn't the hardware option changing the output voltage, same as my amp? Just curious.

Well, it depends on the quality of the volume control. A digital volume control could be better than an analog one, so my advice is to test your setup with your ears and choose the one which performs best

markl wroteGreat work guys. I am using an external USB DAC (Epiphany Acoustics) and have observed the same problems with the volume control as others have. But the (fixed) level that it outputs is maybe 30 dB lower than it should be. I am running with volume set to "disabled". Any thoughts?

Open alsamixer via CLI and check for the hardware volume of your DAC. It's probably set to a lower value.

ACX wrote This behaviour is absolutely not expected... can you check the Javascript console of the failing browser for errors?
I will try, but I do not know what I must do - can you be more explicit please?

In Chrome, press F12 key and you'll see a panel showing at the bottom of the window. Click on the console tab and refresh the UI.

xarath wroteHi.

I had troubles with cifs shares not showing in the library. Changing the deamon user:group to root:root in mpd settings seems to resolve the issue.

Yes, we added this option to solve some mount issues in particular cases.
Go to MPD > General music daemon options > Daemon user : group, try to change the value and see if it solves.

amadeus74 wroteHow can I install the Avahi or Bonjour client on Android?

There are many apps that allow you to explore ZeroConf (Bonjour, Avahi) services on the network.
A couple of them:

kwatch wroteUpdate did not make any difference. I'm still at 70% to 80% CPU usage when I paly the 24/192 FLAC.

Please post your debug info via Pastebin as suggested in the first post of this thread.

Just a follow-up to my post.

I've been communicating via e-mail with Gordon over at IQAudIO for advice. When I mentioned I was trying to play 24/192 FLACs he asked if I was trying to do so over wi-fi, which of course I was.

Now, after getting the UI updates and switching back to a cable at Gordon's suggestion 24/192 FLAC is DSP (dead solid perfect). No stutter, no drops, gapless is perfect.

Athough wi-fi would have been convenient I have no problem going to wire as I have wall jacks behind my stereo rack (foresight from 15 years ago when I finished my basement

).

For those trying higher bit rates, try a wire once and see what happens.

siam28 wroteAny ideas why the changes are not sticking?

We are currently investigating on that. If you have some hints to speed up a patch delivery, please tell us

A rework of the networking section is planned and hopefully will come soon. It should solve most (if not all) of the issues emerged until now.

I've stored cue sheets in every album 'cause I play wav files exclusively so there's no tagging.
How can I make them visible in the library?

Take a look here to understand how a RuneAudio device works as UPnP/DLNA renderer.

I'm not sure what happened but it's running at 15% now. I'm a happy camper!

Hi valery,
are you referring to the USB version with XMOS chipset or the direct I2S one?

We are going to integrate this feature in the UI in the future.

I believe that the cover art is not the same as before. I have the cover arts from the alpha but missing in 3.0 beta.
The funny thing is not all albums.

Dave

Hello,

First, i want to congratulate you for this wonderful project. This new version brings a lots of new useful features.
But this soft is not ready for users. I had a lot of troubles while configuring the different options. Some problems were resolved by using the IP adress instead of the dns (runeaudio.local). But actualy i can't start the system after a spotify account configuration. I can't stop the loading of the UI, even if i reboot the system via putty it won't load.
So it will be the second time that i format my sd card for a new installation.
You say beta but for me it remains an alpha.

Despite it, the product features are far better than volumio especially for the streaming (radio, spotify,...), the sound quality, the album picture....

but it's far less stable

.
Once stabilised, rune audio will be the reference for digital audiophiles. Good luck
