Install open VPN client (apt-get update) (solved)

Hello, I am Frengo .... how are you?

I wrote about the command line interface through SSH Putty
I try to login as root and write apt-get update to get the packages Linux updates, but I get:
-bash: apt-get: command not found

Does anyone know why? There 's some way to unlock?

This is because RuneAudio is based on Arch Linux.
The command "apt-get" does not exist on Arch Linux you have to use "pacman" instead.

Be warned, updating the system most likely will break your installation.
Please search the forum.

Yes, but i need to install open VPN client on Odroid C1+ to reach it via web mobile (3G/4G).

I can't use two Odroid (one for Rune and one for reach it......)

Hi frengo,

for installing a VPN client you do not need a overall system upgrade.

pacman -Sy openvpn

should be enought.

Why do you need a connection from outside to your RuneAudio device?
What do you mean with "to reach it via web mobile (3G/4G)"?
Please explain what your goal is, maybe where is a much simpler solution.

From time to time I participate with a friend to the creation of something new for a small local private radio. They have a repeater in the mountains and they need a pcm quality remotized player to send music when sometimes goes faulty radio uplink that connects the studios with the repeater......

I installed openvpn with:

pacman -Sy openvpn

but while on Debian I wrote:

service openvpn restart

and then:

service openvpn status

and the service was restarted fine, here on Archlinux to do the same thing I typed:

systemctl restart openvpn

and then:

systemctl status openvpn

but it gives me the following errors:

Failed to restart openvpn.service: Unit openvpn.service failed to load: No such file or directory

and

-bash: $: command not found.

What are the correct commands ?

openvpn on Arch Linux is a bit ifferent:

The service is called openvpn@server

Actually I have to install OpenVPN only as Client (not as Bridge) but I see that I have always a large amount of error messages.

On Debian I succeeded to make working fine OpenVPN in seconds ....

apt-get install openvpn

then:

service openvpn restart
service openvpn status

now copy the certificates, the key and config files in /etc/openvpn with:

cp ca.crt /etc/openvpn
cp client.crt /etc/openvpn
cp client.key /etc/openvpn
cp client.ovpn /etc/openvpn

-To connect to the server type on /etc/openvpn:

openvpn --config client.ovpn & exit

And the Client connect to the server.

I use the ODROID C1 +. Perhaps the codes are different from those for the Raspberry ?

I do not know Debian OS. This forum is for RuneAudio, not Debian OS. RuneAudio is based on ArchLinux, RuneAudio is not ArchLinux. If you want help with ArchLinux commands, go to the ArchLinux forum... https://bbs.archlinux.org

i'm not sure what you want to achieve.

- your Pi is at a the repeater (located somewhere in the mountains)?
- you like to connect to a third party VPN?
- or is the VPN server at the studio?

As i told you already Arch Linux has not a simple openvpn service.
You have to use:

Manual startup

To troubleshoot a VPN connection, start the client's daemon manually with openvpn /etc/openvpn/client.conf as root. The server can be started the same way using its own configuration file (e.g., openvpn /etc/openvpn/server.conf).
systemd service configuration

To start OpenVPN automatically at system boot, either for a client or for a server, enable openvpn@<configuration>.service on the applicable machine.

For example, if the client configuration file is /etc/openvpn/client.conf, the service name is openvpn@client.service. Or, if the server configuration file is /etc/openvpn/server.conf, the service name is openvpn@server.service.

Yes, hondagx35, my only need is to reaching Runeaudio.
Until it was in the LAN, no problem.
But now to reach the Odroid C1+ with RuneAudio, now that's in a place where there's just a mobile web connection via 3G, the only way to reach it is to create a VPN system (where the device with Runeaudio must be an ovpn client reachable from another ovpn client what can be my PC or my smartphone). I have found that if I install OpenVPN (so Ovpn client) on Odroid C1+ with Debian OS, I reach the Odroid C1+ easily and immediately (i can ping it) but I did not succeed do the exact same operation on Archlinux.
If I typing the codes that you suggested I give errors.

P.S .: It's strange that here there is no even someone who knows how to change the logic state of a GPIO output (to drive a relay that can turn on/off an FM transmitter or an Audio Amplifier):

Of course:

I install OpenVPN on my Odroid C1+ typing (without update and upgrade):

pacman -Sy openvpn

then copy the certificates, the key and config files (eg. from an USB pendrive) in /etc/openvpn with:

cp ca.crt /etc/openvpn
cp client.crt /etc/openvpn
cp client.key /etc/openvpn
cp client.ovpn /etc/openvpn

then return on master directory and type:

groupadd nogroup

-Then to connect to the server typing:

cd /etc/openvpn

and then:

openvpn --config client.ovpn

And the Client connect to the server immediately

To install the Server I followed this guide and it works by another Odroid C1+ with Debian OS to permit a client to reach it on a static IP address at home (portworwarding on private IP server address) and to permit at a client (eg. an android device) to see other clients (Arch OS, windows OS, etc.):
