Hi foxint,
this is exactly what RuneAudio is made for.
http://www.runeaudio.com/documentation/quick-start/quick-start-guide/
- Download the image from
here
- extract it, so you have a *.img file
- if you are on windows use Win32DiskImager to write it to your sd card
- reinsert the sd card in your PC and edit the file /boot/config.txt
# Uncomment one of these lines to enable an audio interface
#dtoverlay=hifiberry-dac
#dtoverlay=hifiberry-dacplus
dtoverlay=hifiberry-digi
#dtoverlay=hifiberry-amp
#dtoverlay=iqaudio-dac
#dtoverlay=iqaudio-dacplus
Remove the # in front of the hifiberry-digi line
- mount the HifiBerryDigi on your Pi
- insert the sd card
- attach wired ethernet
- power up your pi
- now you have to find the ip address from your pi
You have multiple options to do this:
* install
avahi/bonjour on your PC (or see if it already there)
* go to the configuration site from your router and look for attached devices
- navigate your internet browser to
http://runeaudio or to the ip-address you found above
- attach your hdd
