Port Runeaudio to Odroid C1 (Arm v7)

Hi Frank,

wifi dongle is flashing now and connection via iphone is lightning fast, much faster than with Volumio. I had the same problem as Gé and I did remove pulseaudio and the other two and that worked well. The device is running for half an hour now and I did not loose connection.
When I tried to update via gitpull I got the following message:

error: Your local changes to the following files would be overwritten by merge
app/libs/runeaudio.php
Please, commit your changes or stash them before you can merge.
Aborting

Being a noob I am at a loss what to do. Could you help me out once more?

I already played 24/176 files without any problem, Gé did also play HiRes files. maybe you need to change some settings in Audio buffer size and buffer before play in order to get HiRes going.

I would like to complement Frank on the work he has done.

I also tried the git pull, but it obviously failed.
I'm still having trouble with HDMI output and the network problems hav not disappeared either.

Did the git pull not work? I will check again...

I need to look into this tomorrow, I did not see any difference yet.
The error messages on git pull has gone, but otherwise things are still the same.

Hi,

the git pull worked for me, meaning the update was done. I have no HDMI cable so I cannot check whether I get HDMI audio. I installed a Ramdisk in a subfolder under local storage and made a second partition on the SD card as well which I put in a seperate subfolder under local storage. Works a treat. I prefer RuneAudios visualisation of the different storage devices. I know have configured RuneAudio exactly like I want it to be

are the ones I need in order to do this if I am correct?

I would transfer them to the C1 via Filezilla and then use pacman -U in order to install them right?

If I wanted to use only one filter in brutefir in order to avoid loading different filter files in console I would need to up/downsample music files. I do not want to dothis with mpd but preferably with sox. Then I would need to pipe out first to sox and then to brutefir and then into the DAC. Is sox already in the RuneAudio image for C1.

Still no luck with hires file, try to double buffer size and before play.
I have no any issues with wifi 8188eu.
For headless connection, I use Fing to find rune IP address and discover service, if no http service you shouldn't reach c1.

DAC: HRT micro streamer and USB DAC of NAD D3020.(BOTH work well with Pi B, Pi 2.
File: store on MICRO SDCARD 64GB/ USB READER

The similar case was happened with Volumio for c1 too. A lot of pop and click.

With absolutely the same constellation?
- same sd card?
- same adapter?

What power supply do you use?

Please try to play a hires file from a NAS or from internal memory.

reverted to a previous version of my image and re-applied the changes.
HDMI audio out should be working now, it does not throw any errors.

The network issue is strange and I believe this is an existing problem in RuneAudio, my Odroid-X2 has the same problem.
I have a static address, but as a secondary IP. I do not know where this is configured, but DHCP is still there.

Yes we have to find a solution for this.

Please try:

systemctl stop dhcpcd
systemctl disable dhcpcd

with:

systemctl | grep dhcpcd*

you can check which service is running.

Hi,

slightly off topic can I use the disk imager to create an image of my installation as it is as aback up before venturing into the realm of pipe out and upsampling and room correction filters?

Hi,

yes you can use something like Win32DiskImager to backup your image.
The only thing that could happen is, that it may not fit back on the sd card.
You then can try an other card or shrink it slightly before restoring.

Ok, it was a systemd-networkd issue: it is enabled, so it takes the profile from /etc/systemd/network as well.
The profile had DHCP enabled on both stacks, so I commented it out.

you are using the HRT streamer right? Which will do up to 96Khz, correct?
Now this needs to be checked, but I suppose that when you wish to play HiRes, mpd would resample and maybe this is were your trouble starts. Resampling can be controlled by the samplerate_converter setting in mpd.conf, which is missing. I think it should be

samplerate_converter "Fastest Sinc Interpolator"

Perhaps resampling now defaults to a resource-hungry value.

EDIT: I will test this tomorrow with a FIIO E18, it also has 96Khz as an upper limit
EDIT 2: Quick test and no pops, clicks, but hickups every couple of seconds, rest will follow tomorrow as promised

Your explanation seem unreasonable due to when I played 96kHz via 96Khz DAC, I still got a lot of pops and clicks.

I will try it over 192Khz DAC and report soon.

You are right about "hickups every couple of seconds" I got it even with 44.1kHz.

All file and configuration I reported is quite the same as they run fine on Pi2 or even Pi B with a little bit overclock.

Edit : tested with DAC TEAC UD-501, All files from low to hires FLAC, DSD to be handled well.
That means we need to maintain a compatible DAC list:
Confirmed TEAC UD-501.

I played around with the samplerate_converter parameter and it can make a big difference with the Fiio E18 (max 24bit/96kHz):
Testfile: Stereo, dsd bit, 352.8 kHz, 2822 kbps

samplerate_converter "0" (Best Sinc Interpolator) ==> unusable
samplerate_converter "1" (Medium Sinc Interpolator) ==> clicks, hickups
samplerate_converter "2" (Fastest Sinc Interpolator) ==> plays without problems, quality suffers but still OK (audible when using headphones)

MPD obviously defaults to something else, because when I leave the samplerate_converter parameter out, it is not like anyof the 3. It only skips every couple of seconds.

@Thanh: why it would do that already with 44.1kHz track I don't know. Could you set mpd logging to "verbose" and see what you get for output?

btw. the Fiio E18 makes my system crash completely when I try to play a 24bit, 44.1kHz track (format=S24_3LE).

I just want to share the observation that when I connect with my iPhone using the IP address the connection is stabler than when I use rune audio,local I don't know why this is the case but it isn't a real problem as the connection using the IP address is ok

Suggest you config your wifi dongle a static IP address via your Wifi Router, then always use your fixed IP to connect to your box. RuneAudio.Local need translation through your local DNS anyway. To explore your network you can use Fing https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/fing-network-scanner/id430921107?mt=8
