WiFi refuses to connect

Postby jaygothard » 25 Nov 2020, 17:54

Burned the latest image to my SD card, did the update and started setting it up. Started by using a wired LAN which feels very backwards. Why can't Rune just start in hotspot mode like the other 2 major MPDs? Anyway, I tried to connect to my Wifi two ways and they both failed. I hit the + next to Wifi and typed in the name of my network and the password. No apparent change after clicking "OK". Clicked on the magnifying glass to search for my network, found it, typed in the password, and the wave icon at the top fades in and out forever. If I go back or refresh the page I've got nothing. No sign that I ever even tried to connect to WiFi. So much for this run. Will try back in a few months to see if I get any farther. Its really unfortunate. Rune seems to have a lot of potential, but there always ends up being a show stopping bug.

Creating the wifi file in BOOT, as in the RuneAudio+R e6 installation instructions, has always worked for me. Have you tried it?

If there is a way to connect through the GUI and is doesn't work, it's broken.

The notes that R101 references for connecting to WiFI is the simplest and most reliable - have you actually tried it ?

If you have the web app up and running then you should be able to click on the Plus Sign next to the WiFi section on the Networks page and fill in the necessary information. I have used the former with no problems but haven't used the latter so have no experience as to how well it works.

Just copying a working file into netctl does not work for me, so I have a feeling the Pi enables some other necessary functions if it finds the wifi file. If this is so, adding a network via the GUI might not work either, unless a previous working network exists.
