WiFi Configuration

Postby ethanc1993 » 11 Jun 2016, 16:45

Hi all,
I am trying to configure the wifi on rune audio. I have so far been able to get on to the rune audio UI connecting the raspberry pi to the router with the ethernet. When I go to network section, no networks appear to connect to. I want to able to use rune audio away from the router. I have the official raspberry pi wifi dongle and can access the command line for rune audio with the root name and password. Any help on how to configure the wifi would be great,
Thanks,

Hi ethanc1993,

welcome to RuneAudio.

To get the best possible support, please specify your hardware and RuneAudio version. Collecting debug info is also suggested.

Hi,
The version of rune audio I'm using is 0.3 beta and the hardware is a raspberry pi Model 1 B. I also use the raspberry pi wifi adapter.
Sorry if I'm missing anything.

Hi ethanc1993,

Sorry if I'm missing anything.

No problem, but we need your debug data.
The image for the RP1 uses a relatively old kernel, so your dongle may not be supported.

First of all i would update the system to the nightly builds.

After this you can try to get the latest kernel and firmware.
Code: Select all
pacman -Sy --force raspberrypi-firmware-bootloader linux-raspberrypi
sync
reboot

This is not tested and may break the installation.

I tried following these specific steps but after 'pacman -Sy --force raspberrypi-firmware-bootloader linux-raspberrypi'
I just get this message: This kernel provides updated config.txt and cmdline.txt files.
Check for pacnew files in /boot and merge or replace the existing files
with the new versions.

Hi,

please check this thread for instructions on how to update the kernel on a RP1.
(Ignore the PI zero stuff)

Ah thank you very much Frank I got it working, as you can probably tell I'm not the best at these kind of things . Well thank you very much for the help.
