Configuration of a PiTFT touchscreen?

Has anyone had any luck configuring a PiTFT touchscreen on RuneOS?

I'm interested in adding one to my Rune setup but the instructions and software provided are all in .deb form, and RuneOS doesn't seem to have dpkg and the like.

Hi pmgeahan,

the PITFT, like most small tft displays, needs a special kernel driver.
For my rpi-display (watterott) i'm using the fbtft from here:
https://github.com/notro/fbtft/wiki
I use it to display cover art und song infos.

In real life it looks much better.

I installed the kernel and the modules on a fresh RPi-Arch-Image with:

wget https://raw.github.com/Hexxeh/rpi-update/master/rpi-update -O /usr/bin/rpi-update

chmod +x /usr/bin/rpi-update

REPO_URI=https://github.com/notro/rpi-firmware rpi-update

Next i copied the kernel and modules to my rune installation.

Can you also use the screen to search for albums, switch soimgs etc? Interface spotify?
I plan on using such a display as the only interface to the runeaudio device.

No, not at the moment.
This is only a status display, but i'm working on such a thing.

I did all described procedures. On PI2 and the Waveshare 3,2 display there is no result (( Excuse for silly questions, I am a beginner in Linux

The LCD driver was launched, the system sees it. There is a question, "how to bring to it information"?

Would love to know how to get this working - just a display with the song info and nothing else!

Hi Frank,

I hope you read this after the long time an you can help me.

I also have the display from waterott and I have it now running, BUT how is the way, that I see the covers and informations like your photo? I only see the prompt and runelogin, but nothing else and I can't found the correct way.

I hope you can me give a step by step for this.

Hi Ralf,

i canceled this project as i implemented the "local browser" option for small tft touch displays.

For my prototype i have used a python script
- pygame to access the display
- the provided information from our database

redis-cli get act_player_info

- mutagen (python library) to get artwork from ID3 tags
- python library to get artwork from last.fm

Sorry, but can not find the code anymore.
