METHOD 1: Spotify Connect web by Fornoth

Tested on RPi2, RuneAudio 0.4-beta_20170229, Boss Dac. It works perfect!

Now test:

/root/spotify-connect-web.sh --name RuneAudio --device 0 --mixer Digital --username abc --password xyz --bitrate 320

--device <value> --mixer <value> from alsamixer:

If everything's OK. Now you can see RuneAudio Connect on your Spotify app!

Store this service file as /usr/lib/systemd/system/spotify-connect.service:

nano /usr/lib/systemd/system/spotify-connect.service

[Unit]
Description=Spotify Connect
After=network.target

[Service]
ExecStart=/usr/bin/sh /root/spotify-connect-web.sh --name RuneAudio --device 0 --mixer Digital --username abc --password xyz --bitrate 320
Restart=always
RestartSec=10
StartLimitInterval=30
StartLimitBurst=20

[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target

To test the service execute:

systemctl start spotify-connect

If all works, you can enable the service (start on boot):

systemctl enable spotify-connect

Adjust Spotify volume on app or web, also control volume on RuneAudio.

After successfully install v0.0.3. You can update to v0.0.4 by the same this way. If you install v0.0.4 first, it's not working.

Thanks tml3nr for the write up.

I tried a few times to compile the new Librespot(-org) but failed everytime mostly because of dependencies. On debian/raspian based RPI's this is less painful

This seems like a good alternative. I have v0.0.4 installed (following your guide) on an RPi 3: running good sofar!

Unfortunately, after a full day of listening things didn't turn out that good. More than once the music stopped completely. A reboot was required to get things going again.

Anyone else having similar issues?

There are currently 3 versions of spotify-connect-web can work on RuneAudio:

mixer.setvolume(int(volume / 655.35))

to:

mixer.setvolume(int(50 + (volume / 655.35) / 2 ))

I installed the first one and run 24/7 has been 2 weeks. Everything OK.

Never mind it was worth the try. May be this weekend I'll try again with h an RP2.

Thank you very much for your test. Maybe it would be better on RPi2. All 3 versions of spotify-connect-web work fine on my test with RPi2.

i have both RPi2 & RPi3. But i prefer RPi2 because it's low noise, sound more cleaner.

I did everyhing step by step, using WinSCP I copied spotify_appkey.key to /root/spotify-connect-web-chroot/usr/src/app, overwrited console_callbacks.py using text given here https://github.com/JozoVilcek/spotify-connect-web/blob/855b92b49555cdcc11d0ab4c71866475cd7c9499/console_callbacks.py and when I run test typing my username and password to Spotify I have problem like in the picture. I have also tried to copy all the files (spotify_appkey.key + Spotify Fix) like here http://powerpi.de/spotify-connect-auf-dem-raspberry-pi-2-installieren-dein-smartphone-ist-die-fernbedienung/ but there was also an error. Do you have any idea ?

Do not update Spotify Fix. It's not working.

Please check: --device <value> --mixer <value> from your alsamixer:

PS: If you clean install Spotify Connect Web Fornoth v003 or v004. The command line must be:

./spotify-connect-web.sh --playback_device sysdefault:CARD=BossDAC --mixer_device_index 0 --mixer Digital --username abc --password xyz --name RuneAudio --bitrate 320

Hi,
I have it running on ran Rpi zero w. Everything works fine except the volume control. I use a generic USB audio card and alsamixer shows the volume control as 'Speaker'. But when I put that in as Mixer it does not work. Please help.

P.S.: it is working when I remove the mixer part in the spotify-connect.service

I've been able to do it without a problem on a 2nd rspb3 with a hifiberry dac+ pro, but in this new unit, I have an external USB DAC, that is recognized as "xCORE USB Audio 2.0" as the mixer and the device is 0
The problem I think is that when you have spaces in the mixer name it doesn't work
Do you know how I should be donfiguring it?
By the way, it's a SMSL M8 dac via USB

You try SC Fornoth v003. It's support all of parameter below:
