DSD demo files offered by OPPO

Hi, there are some DSD demo files offere by OPPO, that can be useful for testing :

Just found this post and tried the demo files. The FLAC version plays but the .dsf files don't. Rune appears to be playing them but there is no audio output.

Is this a limitation of my DAC card (IQaudiO Pi-DAC+) ?

Yes.

You can try to disable DSD on the mpd settings page (MENU->MPD).
MPD tries to convert the files on the fly to pcm and they should play.
Depending on the device (PI1, PI2 or ODROID) this may lead in stuttering because it's a resource hungry process.

Thanks, disabling DSD allows them to play, presumably converted on the fly as descibed in the post you referred to. Presumably we lose quality doing this?
