Hi krell,
The hifiberry dac plus pro driver delivers I2S signals to the hifiberry board. The hifiberry board passes the I2S signals (unmodified) together with a generated master clock signal to the DENAFRIPS Terminator.
44.1kHz is generally at 24 bit depth (or sometimes even 16 bit), while your DENAFRIPS Terminator dac is operating at 26 bit depth. What is curious is that some files play and others don’t. Could be that you need to force 24 or 32 bit output from MPD to make everything work. Best to test this first.
If the results of the format line are different for playing and not playing and they are consistent it is relatively simple to force MPD to play everything with a specified (working) bit depth. This is done by adding a ‘format’ command to the MPD configuration file. Because the MPD configuration file is generated this is best done by modifying the ‘redis_acards_details’ file as described in this post:
#4167 In this example 24 bit depth is forced.
As I understand it, forcing a positive change in bit depth has no impact to the music quality so long as there is no change in the sampling rate. Not sure what will happen with DSD input with a fixed output bit depth. Please post your results and your debug if you need more help.
