Early warning: I am a complete beginner in every aspect to linux and operating my RPi 3b. I have had a nightmare of a time trying to get RuneAudio to cooperate with me. With that being said, these are the difficulties I've run into:

1) When trying to access my RPi through putty, I am given an error that the host does not exist. I am listing runeaudio as the host.

2) RuneAudio really does not want to connect so my Wifi. When using Raspbian I have no problem whatsoever connecting, but RuneAudio doesn't seem to respond when I enter my login info. I have tried switching my IP to static, checking that all required fields are 0.0.0.0, then switching back to DHCP, and have had no luck.

3) When attempting to connect play spotify, it acts as though it is permanently buffering/loading. I suspect this problem will be solved once I can connect to wifi, but I am not sure if it will so I'll mention it anyways.

I apologize in advance, I have essentially no coding/developing background so linux is terrifying to me (They only teach us to use glorified calculators in aerospace engineering (matlab)) Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Boilers,

we need more information:
- while trying to setup your wifi connection you are connected via ethernet?
- the version you are using is the one from the download page (v0.3-beta (23/03/2016))?
- on what channel is your access point transmitting?
- do you try to use the built-in wifi?

Hi Frank,

I've got a few updates. I went out and bought a new SD card and wrote the latest test image on it. The wifi now works fine, and I can now login through SSH. However, now the spotify button is greyed out in settings. I've checked the forums and there are a few posts about similar things happening, but I never saw a solution for this. Any ideas?

Hi Boilers,

for me this looks like you enabled spotify without entering a valid user and password.
You need a spotify premium account to get it working.

Please try:
- get access to the remote console
- execute this command:

redis-cli hset spotify enable 0

- reboot and try again

Use SSH from your PC

If you are not familiar with SSH read this for Windows or this for Linux/MacOS
The default login for RuneAudio is "root" with the password "rune" (without quotes).

- Use sftp to access files on Rune Audio:
Get WinSCP from here and install it.
When it opens setup the following:
- Session
File Protocol: SCP
Host name: The IP address of you Raspberry Pi
User name: root
Password: rune

That's it, connect and you can transfer files just by dragging and dropping.

It turns out I needed to switch my playback source from spotify to MPD. I could then toggle the spotify option and input my login and everything worked fine except for some weird bug where I couldn't adjust the volume. I will note that after spotify was up and running, I went and checked the spotify toggle in settings, and it was once again greyed out. I'm not sure if this is intentional or not, but just a heads up. Thank you for the great support!
