NFS *is* built into the kernel for RuneOS v0.3. I got it to work very similarly to how I got raspbian going. I use dhcp which takes it a bit longer to boot, but allows me to manage the ip addresses on the DHCP server. What does not seem to work if the latest kernel. I updated my one Rune with pacman -Syu and am running "3.18.7-7-ARCH" It runs fine off the SD card (need to add some other configuration settings to use i2s, but that is documented), but cannot mount the NFS share at boot. I use this config
root=/dev/nfs nfsroot=192.168.2.198:/mnt/first_NAS/rune_pi_too,rsize=32768,wsize=32768,tcp,vers=3,rw ip=dhcp rootfstype=nfs console=ttyAMA0,115200 console=tty1 selinux=0 plymouth.enable=0 smsc95xx.turbo_mode=N dwc_otg.lpm_enable=0 kgdboc=ttyAMA0,115200 elevator=noop
When I do , I get "Unable to mount root fs via NFS or unknown-block(2,0) error -6". I am guessing it is some setting in the newer kernel or some syntax difference but have not stumbled upon it on the intertubes. I am serving the root file system from a FreeNas (FreeBSD) server and have been doing so for a year or so to raspbian and recently to RuneOS (3.12.26-1-ARCH) I did notice that I need to add the NFS version vers=3 when I mount an NFS from the command line or /etc/fstab when running the 3.18.7-7-ARCH kernel so I added it on this cmdline.txt file but still no joy at boot time.
With the 'stock kernel' it does not care about NFS version (vers=3) and it works fine with this:
root=/dev/nfs nfsroot=192.168.2.198:/mnt/first_NAS/rune_pi_nfs,rsize=32768,wsize=32768,tcp ip=dhcp rootfstype=nfs console=ttyAMA0,115200 console=tty1 selinux=0 plymouth.enable=0 smsc95xx.turbo_mode=N dwc_otg.lpm_enable=0 kgdboc=ttyAMA0,115200 elevator=noop
. (I have 2 copies of the root filesystem one at ../rune_pi_nfs and ../rune_pi_too)
Any help appreciated.
