we "only" have to recompile the mpd package with the option enabled.
Let me see what i can do.

Group,
I did a bit of cross checking. It appears that the native DSD patching that the rune team did for mpd has been incorporated in the normal release. I edited the PKGFILE and was able to compile this. This has NO GUARANTEE. It could break your installation. I am running it on my Pi B+ . The link has both an armv6 (Pi B+) and an arnv7 (Pi B2/3) package for installation. I do not know of any m3u8 files, so cannot test it. From a read of the mpd docs, it should be 'in there', but I may be mistaken. Unpack the archive then 'pacman -U mpd mpd-rune-0.20.6-1-armv[6/7]h.pkg.tar.xz' and it will be installed on the system. I'm running it on my test B+ and it seems fine, so far.
root@runeaudio:~ # pacman -Q | grep mpd-rune
mpd-rune 0.20.6-1

Thanks Gearhead.
I tried it, but no luck with playing the stream I'm afraid. According to VLC it's a 48k/32 bit MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a) stream.
But here's the interesting thing. If I record the stream to a file, Rune will play the file as Stereo, f bit, 48kHz, 319kbps. There are plenty of 320kbps streams out there which work but 32 bit does seem unusual, so could that be the problem?
EDIT: I realise now that this is irrelevant, and VLC simply converts the audio before saving it. The fundamental problem is probably to do with the way Rune puts the m3u playlist within another playlist.
