RPi hangs on TURN OFF from RuneUI

When I select either of the TURN OFF options from the RuneUI MENU (MENU > TURN OFF > POWER OFF or REBOOT), my RPi3 freezes at the screen where the arrows spin around and around in a circle, for all eternity. The green SDcard activity LED is solid on all this time. I have to physically unplug the power supply at that point. Why won't my RPi shut down cleanly?

It's brand new, has little ribbed heatsinks on the chips. RuneAudio installed on a 16GB SDcard, partition extended to the full size of the card successfully.

This is normal with a Pi3 (for example see here).

With screen you mean your Win10 PC, right?

What do you expect to happen? It is a web application and when the server is down the app also goes down.

If you select reboot the Pi should come back after a while. On some browsers you have to refresh the page.
