Discovery wroteStreaming radio is usually of acceptable quality for most purposes and requires no more equipment or outlay than you will already have in place for your Pi. I personally connect my Pi with ethernet rather than wifi and have had no gaps, glitches or clicks since doing so. If you don't have ethernet near your Pi, invest in a pair of power line LAN plugs - this works fine for me.
I agree wth Trevor.
So here I am in Woodbury, MN USA and one of my favorite things to listen to is Absolute Radio (in it's various flavors) from the UK. Seems the Brits have a good handle on classic rock and how to put together a playlist. Plus, the best part, is listening to all the commercials with folks speaking in their accents (well, it's an accent to
me
). It's SO much fun!
It can be a little challenging sometimes to find the right stream URL for something you want to setup in RuneAudio, and in the case of Absolute Radio, one that will work outside the UK. Sometimes you have to look at page source once you're playing the stream in a browser...and maybe get more creative than that.
The point being to the OP, there's a LOT of "radio" content you can stream. It's really worth checking out even if the process of getting it setup in Rune sometimes is a bit daunting.
You might just find something you like better than your FM station.
