RII I8 Play/Pause and Mute not working

RanmaS

Have Rune installed on a PI3b and a RII I8 Mini keyboard installed. The next song and previous song button are working along with the volume up/down. But the play/pause button is not working along with the mute.

I have gotten the mouse cursor turned on with the help of the forum, so I can use the track pad.

I want to use this in a car so I'd like to get the button working instead of having to move the mouse over the play button.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi RammaS,

you have to adapt the config file for xbindkeys
This file is located in the directory /root.
You can edit it with:

nano /root/.xbindkeysrc

Do not forget the dot in front of xbindkeysrc!

# For the benefit of emacs users: -*- shell-script -*-
###########################
# xbindkeys configuration #
###########################
#
# Version: 1.8.6
#

#keystate_numlock = enable
#keystate_capslock = enable
#keystate_scrolllock= enable

"xbindkeys_show"
  control+shift + q

# Increase volume
"mpc volume +5"
   XF86AudioRaiseVolume

# Decrease volume
"mpc volume -5"
   XF86AudioLowerVolume

# play
"mpc play"
   XF86AudioPlay

# mute
"mpc mute"
   XF86AudioMute

# prev
"mpc prev"
   XF86AudioPrev

# next
"mpc next"
   XF86AudioNext

##################################
# End of xbindkeys configuration #

Frank,
Thank you for responding.

The file in place matched the one you sent, but you set me on the path to fix the play/pause issue. I replaced "mpc play" with "mpc toggle".
I saved and rebooted. It now works.

Don't know why mute isn't working, but since I can pause I don't need the mute.

Thank You

Hi RanmaS,

Don't know why mute isn't working,

With mpc muting is not possible see the man page.
