xbindkeys and rune audio

I'm running Rune on Raspberry Pi 2 model B, installed from "RuneAudio_rpi2_rp3_0.4-beta_20160321_2GB".
I'm also using the recent installed tool “xbindkeys”, with the "local browser" option, but without display.
This for perfectly to execute some simple mpc commands to control volume, or play and pause playlist.
However, I would also like to get entered keystrokes as strings, to be able to make for example a search in the database, or to play a playlist or an album referenced by a number which would be entered in the keyboard.
For example I would like to type in the keyboard

ctrl-f blah

and have the shell execute

mpc searchadd filename "blah"

I've been searching a long time with xbindkeys, but I haven't find any solution, so any help is welcome!

I'm updating to my own question. I finally found a solution writing a shell script which is called by xbindkeys each keystroke.
This way I can process search requests and send them to mpc, and it works great.
Although this is has been developed to fit my own needs, any willing to get the code is welcome to ask.
