kernel & soundquality

Hi,
besides the issues I permanently have ( currently this )
I have one working sd-card.
But on this card/system, I inadvertently changed the kernel to "arch linux" (+ no option to go back)
Although everything sounds ok, I like to know, if the kernel does effect the soundquality, or is it just to enable specific hardware?

Did you do a pacman update?

pacman -Syu

If so this is the case for the errors you get.
If not i have no idea what is going wrong on your installation.

You didn't tell us which device and software version you have, so it is not possible to offer more help.

I have no idea what you are talking about.
How did you do this?
A kernel can not be changed to "arch linux".
The kernel has nothing to do with the distribution you are running.

thx Frank (would be much easier in german, but ok ....)
currently I don´t have my rune/pi device to look at, so just from memory;

In "Settings" , there´s an option where you can choose different kernels (rune-something as default + 2-3 others)
during scrolling on my mobile device I hit the "save settings" button - now this arch-linux kernel is active and the others disappeared from the pop-up

The error-message linked above:
no I did no update (except yours for the scrambled-playlist-issue, which all the trouble started - but that´s many installations ago

I suspect it may be the cheap card-reader (mSD->USB), because everything is ok before I copy the playlists to var/lib/mpd .
I´ll check that at my next installation marathon.

BTW the 3,5USB-hdd is recognized again, also.
Probably it´s crucial that everything is connected and running at the 1st (!) boot (no way if only correct on the 2nd, 3rd....?)
And (last not least) you have to let rune finishing updating the library before doing anything (just my guess)

You can change the kernel, but only on the older Raspberry PI1 and not on the PI2.
The image i made for the RP2 doesn't have this option, because there is only one kernel.

So something is wrong on your setup, or have RP1 first model.

And (last not least) you have to let rune finishing updating the library before doing anything (just my guess)

Yes that is the best option, but only until Rune has indexed the database.

I def. have a Pi2 and never used other images than these 2

Yesterday I made a new try (0.4) and had no kernel-choice, indeed - but I swear I´ve had several times before.
But no matter if it only seem so and doesn´t effect the sound.

The bad thing is, that this installation ended in the same error like the former ones.
After reading the hd (updating library), choosing DAC and entering Wifi-PW, I turn off the device (by menue; power off - or do you tear out the network-cable when running?),
I removed the LAN-cable, power on again and don´t get access any more, neither on LAN (cable), nor on wifi .

Although I always like to know "why", I decided that life is too short (esp. spare time) to bother with this crap.
I hope that my working rune-card last until 512MB cards become cheap,
so I can use my DAP instaed of this Raspberry-junk

Is it really work because i also have some sound quality issues. Hope it will work for me also.
