Multi-room support

rgroothuis

I'm replacing my Squeezebox/server with the Rune Audio setup. As stated in my other post I really like Rune Audio sofar. much faster, stable and easier to use compared to the Squeezebox solution.

What was really good in Squeezebox was the multi-room support. One GUI to control the different players in the different rooms. I've read about multi-room support on Rune Audio, my understanding is that the main RuneAudio player is streaming the audio to another player. But then you cannot really control if from one GUI. Is my understanding correct? Or is there a good multi-room solution support with RuneAudio? If so, can you point me to it? If not, are there any plans to support multi-room in the near future?

Looking forward to your feedback.

Multiroom is not currently supported in RuneAudio but it will be in the future, hopefully soon (there are already attempts to implement it).

BubbleUPnP has just added Multiroom support, alas for Chromecast Audio.

"fixed playing to a Chromecast Audio group (as a DLNA or OpenHome renderer) not working properly. So now Chromecast Audio based multiroom audio playback is possible, using your favorite UPnP AV or OpenHome Control point."

As we are using BubbleUPnP for some workarrounds (Tidal integration for example), is this somehow applying to our multiroom wishes?

Talking to myself here...

But... found this: http://www.ti.com/tool/TIDC-WL1837MOD-AUDIO-MULTIROOM-CAPE?HQS=epd-wcs-ecs-modaudcape-etxt-rd-null-wwe&DCM=yes

Can this be used with our Raspbery boards, maybe? Somehow?

Hi BorGreiner,

nice device you found.

Can this be used with our Raspbery boards, maybe? Somehow?

I don't think so, but multiroom with RP / MPD is easy to do.
We have a working demo, but need to find the time to get it implemented.

That is GREAT news! How, besides money donation, can I help to speed this up?
