Controlling playback from within Python script

Hi!

I am using Runeaudio 0.3 on a Raspberry Pi model B rev 2. I'm working on a python script to be able to control playback from physical buttons. mpc is working fine, but i have some questions regarding spop control.

How do I control spop from within a python script? Suppose i can start the spop interface with

os.system('telnet localhost 6602')

but I don't see how I would be able to run any commands in that spop environment directly from the python script. Is there a command line alternative?

Playback of playlists with

play pl

works fine, but when I try to access a playlist via its URI with

uplay URI

I get the error {"error":"invalid argument (should be a Spotify URI)"}. I use the alphanumeric part of the URI, like for example 6w1flrevUNvTMovb1mpsM0 but with no success.

I swith between backends using

curl http://127.0.0.1/command/?switchplayer=Spotify

and

curl http://127.0.0.1/command/?switchplayer=MPD

, respectively.

I just solved the spop control part with

import pexpect

os.system('curl http://127.0.0.1/command/?switchplayer=Spotify')
child = pexpect.spawn ('telnet localhost 6602')
child.sendline ('play 295')

but the problem with access to playlists via their URIs persists.

you could also try to go through the command interface of runeaudio. Unfortunately I don't have currently any access to a player (and either way, no premium Spotify account), so I'm working from memory (and github

)

The following command should do the trick (toggling play/pause in Spotify):

http://127.0.0.1/command/?cmd=play

Thanks for the Gitbub link! I'm quite new to browsing there. Unfortunately the spop command "uplay" is not availabe for parsing into Rune.

Also, I would like to have a confirmation for when the backend change is done. I do the change with

os.system('curl http://127.0.0.1/command/?switchplayer=Spotify')

and would want to know when to continue the script. If I change backend "manually", by ending mpd and starting spop I suppose that would be easy but then then the webplayer interface isn't being updated. Might there be an external (via localhost/commmand/?" way of monitoring the backend state?
