Wireless network no IP [RESOLVED]

Hello there,

I just installed Runeaudio after a few weeks of using volumio because I was having some problems with it. I, however, can't seem to get a wireless connection to my network. On the cable everything works fine. I can get to the interface and set up a wireless connection. In fact, when I check the status of the profile, it says it's connected. If I just check the network overview page though, for WLAN0, it says no IP assigned. I've seen more people about this problem but here's the catch: I don't have a screen to attatch the hdmi output to at the moment.

Since I'm very new to all of this I'm hoping there's something obvious I might have missed that can be fixed from within the webUI or something like that.

Any ideas?

RESOLVED: dhcpcd wasn't getting called automatically.

Resolution: manually enabling the service:

systemctl enable dhcpcd

If you have got an IP address via the cable, use a web browser to connect to the RuneAudio interface and setup your WiFi connection. I would not use auto for WiFi, use a static IP (you put in the IP address yourself). In the RuneAudio interface, make sure to set a different IP address for the WiFi than you use for the cable.

I can't ping the wifi IP,
I can ping the cable IP.

I'm fairly certain I set up the static IP correctly:
Used ipconfig /all to find the router settings and entered them in the web interface. Used an ip adress not used on the network by some other device.

Name: wlan0
Type: wireless
Status: connected
Associated SSID: Ziggo89289
Assigned IP: none
Speed: 72 Mb/s

Check all IP address settings again, for me, because you like me. And run a ping again, after checking.

"Assigned IP: none" <---- Set the IP address in the Pi for the WiFi manually, type it in yourself. Reboot!

Manually:
IP address
Subnet Mask
Default Gateway

Also with ping I assume you mean the command from within a command prompt where you just type in "ping [ip adress]"

Thank you, I love you too.... you have manually set the IP address in the Pi as 192.168.179.50
But your router is assigning an IP address of 192.168.179.11
Something is amiss here...
And DHCP is enabled (Yes)....
And Autoconfiguration is enabled (Yes)....

From the command prompt run: ping 192.168.179.50

PS: That information (192.168.179.11) is the wifi adapter in your laptop or PC?

the command prompt is ran on my laptop, Isn't the xxx.11 the ip assigned to my laptop?

Status: connected <----- It's connected to the wireless network, this is good.

Assigned IP: none <----- Looks like you have not assigned a static IP address in the Pi settings (even though you showed me the pic), strange.

Speed: 72 Mb/s <----- There is throughput, mmmm, still strange.

Have you tried 'Auto' instead of 'Static' under IP assignment?

Same thing, no ip, no ping.

From the command prompt run:

ping 192.168.179.50

tracert 192.168.179.50

ping sends a message to the network device, tracert sends a ping to every node along the path to the network device... example: tracert google.com

Can you access your router to find out if the Pi has been assigned an IP address?

Yes, give it time... it will list all network devices (PC's, laptops, Pi's, routers, printers) connected to your network, including their IP addresses and domain names.

I only just gave it to you 18 minutes ago (on my mark), is 2 hours the estimated time to complete? I just ran a scan using that program, took just under 2 minutes. It found six (6) network devices on my network.
