But that 200 quid could get a second hand mac mini.
Where can I go with 200 quid, it is good money after a cheap slice of pi?
The battery pack is not a great solution because when a battery gets low it's contribution degrades (I only recommended you 'try' it to compare the difference between the Pi's switch mode PSU), a good quality low noise power supply would be best (read up on the "iFi iPower", it's cheap and is very low noise). The DIGI+ (SPDIF) is a good idea to feed an external DAC. No Pi-3-for-me! P3 = complexity, too many threads all over the place about issues. I would go the Pi 2B (I have and I think you already said you have one).
If you have a Pi already, don't waste money buying a second one... deal with that one first. Use your 200 'quid' to improve it's sound quality. Get a cheap battery pack, cheap, just for comparison! If you can't afford a battery, go the DIGI+ and a new power supply.
PS: Your bug-bitten, you need an 'intervention'! Take a time out and listen to the music! LoL!
