i2S port \ DAC SABRE MK2 ES 9018 HELP !!

Hello
Anybody knows how to set up parameters for i2s port on Pi model 2B ? My DAC is an external one , Sabre MK2 ES 9018 , directly connected from PCB pins to the Pi ( five pins ) , as suggested from Audiophonique . http://www.audiophonics.fr/fr/dac-diy/audiophonics-u-sabre-mk2-es9018-dac-32bit384khz-i2s-kit-p-9019.html.
My previous DAC was a HiFiBerry "HAT" module which was quite simple to enable. At this time i haven't found a solution to enable the port , still not available on audio interfaces in RuneAudio. I'm getting crazy !! There are so much options under config.txt on terminal .... What can i do for??

Please post the schematic or a link to it, i couldn't find anything on their website.

Raspberry Pi doesn't deliver a MCLK signal, so it has to be grounded on the DAC side.

Hi lifegoeson,

your connections look good and should work.

This will not work, you have to enable one of the DACs.
The Hifiberry DAC should work.

Did you do this?

Remove the # in front of:
#device_tree_overlay=hifiberry-dac
in the file /boot/config.txt

After rebooting select the Hifiberry DAC from MENU->MPD

Bad news....
The i2S source becomes visible on Runeaudio but a kind of bad noise come out from the right channel mixed with sound ( nothing at all from the left channel )

I'm having the same problem with static on right channel only for most of my music. It appears to me that anything that is 16bit has this issue and anything with 24bit plays perfectly. I'm using the Audio-gd NFB27h. I sent an email to the manufacturer and he said the I2s output from the RPI is weak and I may need to remove a few resistors from the RJ45 input board on my DAC. I'm waiting on detailed instructions and pictures and will make the mods to see if this works.

My problem is different... i can't "link Pi to the DAC by i2s...

No, I don't get any sound on my left speaker either. Can you try to play a file that is 24 bit to see if it works for you?

Hello Sorry to bother you again...
The i2s connection between my DAC SABRE and the Pi finally works if i uncomment HIFIBERRYDAC on the terminal...boot/config.txt , but it works only if i select a WEB RADIO !!!!!! Nothing from the HDD - usb !!!
I use two HDD 3T in raid 1 configuration and FLAC files... I browse well the content of the hard drive but if i play a file the result is a kind of white noise mixed with music , only from right channel . The left one has no sound at all...!!!!
The HDD's are formatted in FAT system..just to let you know. What's happens in there???
In the meanwhile i tried to install VOLUMIO , just for try.... same results . The DAC i2s input works only with web radio sound flows.... at this point i don't know what to do

Good news that you have it basically working

Can you post some additional information about the radio streams that you can play, and about the (flac?) files that you cannot play? The difference between the source that DOES play, and the source that does NOT play will probably help identify the problem.

For example, a radio stream I often listen to is displayed with this information in the Rune UI:

Stereo, 24 bit, 44.1 kHz, 128 kbps

A typical hd flac file I have is displayed with this info:

Stereo, 24 bit, 192 kHz, 3175 kbps

(both sources are 24 bit, but note the differences in clock rate and data rate

)

Hello everybody
I'v tried to play files WAV 24bit. 44.1 khz ... it's works fantastic.... this is the only way to listen to files with mi dac. Flac 16bit are not supported and i can't understandthe reason why.... The DAC should accepts 24 and 16 BIT as well...
What could i do to solve the issue ??? i'm not about to rip from the beginning 350 classic CD in wav 24 bit , and if my infos are correct, there is not a ripper ( MAc users) ables to convert CD in FLAC 24bit-..... Isn't it??? Also wav does'n accepts metafile ... right or wrong ?

Hi I am experiencing the same problem with audiophonics es9018mk2DAC and pi3 via i2s
I can only get 44.1khz web radio out of it ....the rest flac from USB when I try to play I get
white noise on the right channel
has anyone fixed this issue

I had the same issue last 3 weeks. Then I used C2 instead that it played perfectly.
