Updating SMBD and MPD...

Hey all!

I'm a huge fan of Rune (been using it for a while)! Thank you for all of the hard work you have all put in!

Quick question... I'm currently running 0.3-beta. Is it possible to update SMBD and MPD using "pacman -S"? It throws back a "mpd and mpd-rune are in conflict" and similar for SMBD. The reason I ask is both are extremely old and a lot of the issues I'm having have to do with those two being so old. Most of the fixes to my problems have been implemented in later versions.

Thoughts?

No it isn't, because these packages are not from the official repository.
This is done to get the best possible performance and audio quality.

Aside from performance and quality, is it technically possible to replace rune-samba and rune-mpd with the official releases?

Yes it is, but not the easy way. You have to know what you are doing, because you can easily break the system.

The better way is build the packages the "rune" way:
- get the PKGBUILD files from here
- install base-devel
- make and install the packages like described here.
