Wlan/Wifi Problem with Cubieboard 3/ Cubietruck and Rune 0.3

Guitarfreak

Hello this is Daniel from germany.

I have he following problem:
I use a Cubietruck with build in Wifi and Rune 0.3.
Connection with ethernet is just fine and Rune boots very fast.
But it wont connect to wifi with disconnected LAN.
With connected LAN it finds my network without problems. and when i connect the wifi, it works.
But if i restart or shutdown the cubietruck und disconnect the ethernet - it wont connect to wifi again.
Tried with rune on SD Card, now in the NAND, but same problem.

Any suggestions how to solve the problem?

Thank you

Best regards

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

welcome to RuneAudio.

Please tr this:
- get access to your console
- stop dhcpcd

systemctl stop dhcpcd

- disable dhcpcd

systemctl disable dhcpcd

- setup your wifi profile via UI
- reboot (remove ethernet cable)

Frank

P.S. Solltest du nicht klar kommen, schreibe mir einfach eine PN.

Hi Frank,

Du hättest mich richtig froh gemacht! Dankeschön!

That was also my problem! You can forget about my debug post you requested a while a go.

There is also a sound improvement. Losing the Ethernet cable is like removing some jitter?!

Anyway, thank you again.

Not jitter but probably a ground loop you had through the ethernet cable. Has it shielded connectors?

JeffD

Yes it had. It is a cat6 cable.

Try with a normal patch cable with plastic plugs, if you notice improvements then it was a ground loop issue.

Hi Jeff,

I also had ground loop problems.

I solved it by using UTP cable (unshielded twisted pair).

E. g. search for "CAT 6 UTP" on Amazon.

Good luck.

Sweet! This worked for me!

I have been rune-less since moving home recently and I encountered the same problem as the poster above. Glad I checked in here this morning to see if anyone else has the same issue.

Thanks!

How do you reverse this?

I have moved between to homes - at home 1 I setup my cubietruck and rune on the wifi and it worked fine....Then I moved to home 2 and I had to do the above to get it to work. Now im back at home 1 and cant get it to work on wifi.....

Hi floyd,

How do you reverse this?

systemctl enable dhcpcd
systemctl start dhcpcd

Hello,

If you try all else, you may want to create a proxy to enable possible connections, as these Cubies and Rune maybe selective and sensitive to location.

Best of luck.
