I want to attach a momentary hardware button (switch) to GPIO pins on my Raspberry Pi B+ .
I then want to use python to monitor for a button press and have it toggle pause in RuneAudio.
In Pi devices with raspbian I have previously used RPi.GPIO to work with GPIO.
How do we install RPi.GPIO on in Arch on the RuneAudio system?
The forum post
#1396
suggests we first do
pacman -Syy python python-pip
which updates pacmans database and then installs python and python-pip, and then
pip install RPi.GPIO
But this second command fails. In fact all pip commands fail. I get this error
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/pip", line 5, in <module>
from pkg_resources import load_entry_point
ImportError: No module named 'pkg_resources
'
Next I tried the instruction on
https://pip.pypa.io/en/stable/installing/
which says to first download get-pip.py , which I can do like this
wget https://bootstrap.pypa.io/get-pip.py
and then run
python get-pip.py
But that does not work. I get the error
problem: error: "ImportError: cannot import name 'HTTPSHandler'"
So again the question is how do I install RPi.GPIO? If it is best installed through pip then how do I install pip?
