Strange issue with static IP (eth0)

Hi,

since I will use RuneAudio in my car as car media center I tried to set a static IP on the RuneAudio Raspberry (B+) (following a guide found on the net) and a static IP on the RuneUI Raspberry (PI2 with Raspbian and Epiphany browser).
I then connected both Raspberries through an ethernet cable (simulating how they will be connected in my car) and everything worked out .
That was 2 days ago.
Yesterday I connected both Raspberries to my network switch and surprisingly the "RuneAudio B+" was unreachable even if "ping" was responding.
Then I connected a display and a keyboard to the "RuneAudio B+" and typed "ifconfig eth0"...it reported correctly the IP that I assigned two days ago.
I rebooted it two times but it was still not responding to the "RuneUI PI2"...then I connected them together again (I mean not through the network switch) and everything started working again !!
Why this strange behaviour??
I updated the system through RuneUI at the last update available (don't remember the date but the release year is 2015).

From my understanding if you successfully interconnect two raspberries without switch in between it seems as you would have used a crossover Ethernet cable.
It could be (depending on the switch used) that you would have to use two stright forward Ethernet cables if you interconnect the two Raspberries by use of a switch in between.

The issue happened when I configured the static IP on the B+, before of that they were both connected to the network switch without problems.
They are interconnected through a straight cable, if I connect them to the switch is through straight cables of course.
Another strange thing is that if I check the network settings within the RuneUI, the network is set to "DHCP" instead of "static".
I thought it read network settings from system files but probably it's not this way.
Do you know where Rune saves network settings?

I updated the system through RuneUI at the last update available

Please try to update your PI (B+) to the nightly builds and there should be no need to configure your network manually.

I confirm, it worked, now it keeps the "static" IP setting.
