Hi,
welcome to Rune Audio.
The partition is for a Mac, and the music is within a folder that requires clicking down through a few folders
am I asking too much of runeaudio/ RPi2 to be able to click through to the music folder and display those files?
This should be not a problem at all, Rune Audio (mpd) is able to do this.
First thing to do is to check if the usb device is mounted correctly.
Get access to your console and check this.
ls -la /mnt/MPD/USB
Are there other folders or files on the usb device?
If so, maybe mpd is not able to scan this files / folders.
How to exclude folders from Library update
From
http://www.musicpd.org/doc/user/music_directory_and_database.html
To exclude a file from the update, create a file called .mpdignore in its parent directory. Each line of that file may contain a list of shell wildcards.
for example:
echo "*" > </path/to/directory/to/be/ignored/>.mpdignore
- Get access to the console::
There are two ways to get access to the console:
- 1.) plug in a monitor and a keyboard
2.) use SSH from your PC
- If you are not familiar with SSH read this for Windows or this for Linux/MacOS
The default login for RuneAudio is "root" with the password "rune" (without quotes).
