Native DSD

Is there an easy way to tell if DSD is being sent to a DAC as 'Native DSD' or using 'DoP'?

Technically, from a sound perspective, I guess it shouldn't make a difference but as I have just bought a new DAC (iFi iDAC2) that supports Native DSD I am curious!

I have DSD enabled and can playback DSD.

I was just curious as to the method of sending the DSD data to my DAC. Is it using DoP or sending native DSD data to the DAC as my iFi iDAC2 supports both.

Hi,

to verify if mpd sends the music as DSD or DoP you have to take a look at this file:
"/proc/asound/card*/pcm*p/sub*/hw_params"

cat /proc/asound/card*/pcm*p/sub*/hw_params

Replace the * with your numbers.

Or take a look at the cpu load:

With native DSD the load should be minimal.
With DoP you should see a higher cpu usage, because the music has to be converted.
