Running runeaudio on a different server

I'm intrigued by this gadget by Sonore:

So assuming its cost will be somehow reasonable, would I be able to use rune on my Raspberry Pi2, but configure it to run mpd on the micro-rendu?

To that end, would it be sufficient to properly configure host and port in mpdscribble.conf?

# The host running MPD, possibly protected by a password
# ([PASSWORD@]HOSTNAME).  Defaults to $MPD_HOST or localhost.
host = localhost

# The port that the MPD listens on and mpdscribble should try to
# connect to.  Defaults to $MPD_PORT or 6600.

Not sure.

You want to run the RuneUI on the Raspi but use a remote MPD on the uRendu ?
There are so many info on the RuneUI that I don't know if __all__ of them can be gathered from a remote MPD running.
