Hi,
Bonjour and Airplay are "sound system" protocols.
Bonjour has nothing to do with sound.
Bonjour locates devices such as printers, other computers, and the services that those devices offer on a local network using multicast Domain Name System (mDNS) service records.
For me this works perfect on all RuneAudio platforms:
+ eth0 IPv4 E3CA3693F4EB@RuneAudio AirTunes Remote Audio local
+ eth0 IPv4 RuneAudio Music Player Daemon local
+ eth0 IPv4 RUNEAUDIO Microsoft Windows Network local
+ eth0 IPv4 runeaudio SSH-Fernzugriff local
+ eth0 IPv4 runeaudio SFTP File Transfer local
and downmixing everything to a fixed sampling rate
In case of Airplay / Shairport this sampling rate is cd quality (16-Bit/44.1 kHz),
so it's not that bad and better than most streaming services.
With the above mentioned changes sound is perfect with Hifiberry+ and also with a cheap USB-DAC it is acceptable.
If there are users with problems, so please report and do not forget to provide us all possible debug infos you have available.
-
debug info via pastebin
- hardware (RP, RP2, Cubietruck ......)
- DAC (I2S, USB, brand)
- streaming source (iPhone, Windows PC with Allstream, .....)
- updates installed?
