Port Runeaudio to Odroid C1 (Arm v7)

Hi eRsil,

When I add some cue file to the Queue of RuneAudio everything is OK - I can see all songs separately. But when I add any folder with some flac/ape and cue files I can see only one flac/ape file in the Queue.

I have no experience with cue files, so please search the forum:

when I'm listening mp3 files or web radios program says that they are 24 bit instead 16 bit

This values are reported from mpd. I know that there is a problem with mp3 files, maybe we can fix this later.

the new image works really well with the C1+ and HiFi shield combo, I tested following sample rates:
16/ 44.1, 24/ 44.1, 24/ 48, 24/ 88.2, 24/ 192
And then the icing on the cake

: 24bit/ 352.8Khz also works, tested with many different albums and tracks.
To make sure that this was correct and no resampling was done, I checked hw_params in /proc/asound/card1/pcm0p/sub0 each time.

The I2S Interface also works with my cheap chinese Teradak ES9036.
It is recognized as an ODROIDDAC, the aml soc driver is handling it properly, so it is great value for money with up to 24bit/192Khz.

For the rest, the new RuneAudio image is fully compatible with the older C1.
It can be used without modification, but it might be better to disable the DAC in boot.ini
General suggestions for boot.ini: disable hdmi and video decoding as we do not need that for RA.

Spotify works with the HiFi shield
I have not tested USB Audio, WiFi, Airplay, Webradio or any other RA feature (yet).

Hi Gé,

Your Teradak is an external DAC ? How did you connect the OC1+ ? What sound interface have you choose under the MPD tab...
I try for some days to connect my RPI2 to my Audio-gd (ES9018) via GPIO to RJ45 i2s input on my DAC, but I can't have sound working...
Have you tried DSD files ?

I plan to buy an OC1+ soon, where did you buy yours ?

Hi Jazzaj,
yes, the Teradak is external, connected to the I2S pinout of the C1+, the same way you would do that with a PI B+.

Not comparable with your Audio-gd ES9018

The HiFi Shield does not support dsd, I only tested with .dsf, .flac and .wav

That is correct, but the C1+ is able to convert DSD64 to PCM 24bit/352.8Khz without any significant CPU load.

seems like you have done the trick again. Just for me who needs everything spelled out. The yet to be released image for the C1+ will work on the C1, too? And it will still contain the possibility to integrate the pipe to brutefir (have not had a chance to tr this one but it is onl postponed not forgotten).

No, but i can make a special package for this as i did for RP2.
Or better one for all armv7 devices (RP2, ODROID C1, C1+ and Cubietruck).

I'd just receive my Odroid C1+ and the old C1 case, it just need some adaptations for the USB-B DC, HDMI port and Jack DC (which has a stupid 0.8mm size ?!?) and voilà. Easy with a cutter or a Dremel.

Hi,

posting my problem here, because I do not know where else to post it.

Ihave installed RuneAudio on a 16 GB SD-card (two partitions 1 with Runeaudio 2 in order to save wav files on. I have tried to clone it using dd to create an imgage file and copy this to a second SD card for a second C1 where I want to try new things (pipe out to sox and/or brutefir). I did unmount the card from which I made the image and got no warning that something went wrong. The same for putting the image on the second SD card. Unmounted first and got no warning but the clone does not work, I cannot connect neither when it is connected by LAN nor when I use a wifi dongle. Any ideas? Any alternatives to do the cloning? I am running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and W7 on my laptop.

i think you have missed to copy the bootloader section.

See here at installation.
It is not enough to clone the partions.

Hi Frank,

I did clone the drive sdb as a whole I thought that would also copy the bootloader. I use two different C1s. I inserted the clone into the device I have as a spare. In order to do a cross check I inserted the cloned card into the original C1 and it worked. I then set the fixed ip address to a different value from the original card (in order to be able to run the two C1s in parallel (one for listening to music, one in order to try out the pipe out) and stuck it into the spare C1 again it did not work (no connection and the light of the wifi dongle did not flash). It did connect neither via LAN nor WLAN. I then checked the spare C1 with a Volumio installtion on a third SD card and it worked. So it seems that both C1s are fine (no problem with the hardware). But the cloned card does only work with the C1 from which I took the original RuneAudio installation. May it be that somewhere on the SD card there is information about the MAC address and because the MAC address on the cloned card does not fit the MAC address of the spare C1 I run in this kind of trouble. Maybe I should just install RuneAudio from scratch. Problem is I will then have to redo all the modifications I have done on the installation I already have. On the other hand it might be faster than finding out why the cloned card does not work in a second C1.
