Each remote needs its own configuration file, so it's not a fix.

as i described here.

Normally you can record your own configuration file with lirc on the device.
This does not work on Arch Linux Arm.
So you have to get a premade config file for your remote.

Thanks Frank, that just confirms I misinterpreted a link, in particular the *config file for your remote* part.
Anyway, better that I had to find out how the lirc configuration works and how to debug the different stages.
Now I should be able to help with other remotes too.

Getting there

All the MPC controls seem to work sofar, however the "exec" keys like KEY_POWER, KEY_OK don't seem to have any effect.
The keys are being recognized using irw.

If i remember right:
- you have to push the power key for a few seconds to get to the power mode
- after that you can shutdown with OK for one second
or reboot with KEY_UP for one second.

I did this as a security feature to not power down accidentally.

Yes, we should do that, because this would be cross-platform.
Just to keep the MCE (Microsoft Media Center) remote control for those in current C1 testing: copy the following contents to /etc/lirc/lircd.conf.df/lircd.conf. I know, it says 'HP' somewhere, but it will work for all other MCE compatibles (I used it with a cheepo aliexpress rc, no problem)
For other remotes it would need an adapted config

Some keys are not available on an MCE remote, so to avoid changing the MCE lircd.conf
KEY_ESC became KEY_CLEAR
KEY_PREVIOUS became KEY_AGAIN
KEY_OPTION became KEY_RED
KEY_SEARCH became KEY_GREEN

Seems to work OK, except for KEY_SEARCH, I have not seen anything happening.
It does pop a bit, when using KEY_RIGHT or KEY_LEFT.
Poweroff, reboot and shutdown are also OK.

except for KEY_SEARCH, I have not seen anything happening.

It triggers a database update.
Have an eye on the library button bottom left, you should see a turning wheel.

OK, does not work with changing lircrc, so reverted to your version and adapted the lircd.conf for an MCE control instead.
Now it works wonders

First of all, really appreciate your port for C1.
I've installed "RuneAudio_odroid-c1_0.3-dev_20150526_2GB.img" on my SD-card and it works greatly with my XMOS USB sound.

But I want to use my HDMI sound system.
So I modified /etc/mpd.conf as Frank mentioned like this.

But the mpd.conf file seems to be revert back and {buffer_time "0"} line was removed automatically after booting.

Can you tell me how to enable the sound of HDMI audio?

Hi,
tonight I have done further testing with a Synology NAS using SMB/CIFS and NFS.
When I use SMB/CIFS, the NAS share gets mounted properly with owner 'mpd', updating the library starts immediately.
Using NFS causes the mount to be done as 'root' and this is where it goes wrong. On the server I could map root to admin or guest, root would have access, bus this does not help. RuneAudio uses mpd to access the share and that will only work if the share is mounted with 'mpd'.
Now, I could map all users to admin, but that is kind of dirty and should not be done.

Is it a known problem, that root is used to mount NFS shares?

Yes, "git stash" could help the proper upgrade process.
I could see & select "ODROID HDMI" in the MPD config menu.

Now I can enjoy the HDMI audio now.

Hi,
further on NFS, I've seen how the mount is done in 'runeaudio.php'.
So the share will always be mounted as root:root.
I can work around it on the server side by mapping all users to Synology's Admin user and give the share read-only.
/ect/export looks like this

/volume1/TestLib        *(ro,async,no_wdelay,all_squash,insecure_locks,sec=sys,anonuid=1024,anongid=100)

Pity Synology does not allow me to choose anything else then user Admin for 'all_squash'.

So, still not the best way but at least it works and nothing can get deleted.

when I was testing the remote, the pops/ clicks when mpc performs a seek were annoying except on a very low volume setting.
I don't know if this is DAC dependent.
Anyway, I found a way to improve this so no more clicks are heard on my setup.
As an example, where you use

conf = mpc seek 00:00:05

you could change that to

conf = mpc toggle;mpc seek 00:00:05;sleep 0.1;mpc toggle

This principle works as a charm, very pleasant and smooth.
Can you confirm this?

EDIT
The pops on seek only occur with Hi-Res files, not with CD's or mp3's and disappear with these changes.
Will look into this further.

Hi Frank,

this evening I did something rather daft I pulled the power cord of the C1 while music was playing. After I restarted the system the audio output was set to Odroid HDMI (strange before that there was a different default setting) and it das not have my DAC in the drop down menu anymore. Is there a chance to repair the damage or do I need to install RuneAudio fresh on the SD card?

Hi,

checked wether my old Volumio installation would recognise my DAC, that did not work either. That is when I feared I had grilled the USB receiver chip in my DAC, but DAC was recognised under W7 and with the ASIO driver installed it played even HiRes music.

Hi,

without much hope I connected my RuneAudio Odroid to my DAC and I could not believe it, the Master 7 was recognised. So I am able to listen to Charles Aznavour. I have to say even if it was only for a short time I did miss my RuneAudio Player would not like to be without it.
