[SOLVED] Cannot mount NAS

Postby 4eyes » 23 Oct 2014, 14:01

Hi,

I'm having trouble creating an NAS mount.

I am running Runeaudio 0.3 alpha on a Raspberry Pi B+, the NAS is a Synology DS213j.

NFS settings are:
Privilege: read/write
Squash: no
Asynchronous: yes
Non-privileged: Allowed
Security:sys

I have entered the Rpi's ip in the NAS Permissions client field, the NAS's ip in RA's IP field, and the mount path as stated by the NAS

The error message is mount.nfs: Connection timed out
debug info if you need it is at http://pastebin.com/ZzBKCWVx

Hope you can help

Hi, take a look at this thread:
can-t-create-a-nfs-mount-t476.html
Could it help you?

Yes, I found that thread and have gone through it all thoroughly. No success as yet. The NAS and my iMac are talking to each other ok though.

What format is your drive? I havent been able to mount an NTFS drive via NFS from my Macbook but can easily mount a folder from the Mac drive.

Ok, fixed it now. It turns out that I had - predictably - set my NAS up incorrectly. Setting up a new user specifically for runeaudio and unchecking NFS4 support did the trick.

RA sounds great now, airplay and webradio too. Thanks guys.

Here is another (dumb) mistake which cost me hours, countless forum searches, reinstalls and tweaks to my NAS. I hope this is helpful for someone else:

I managed to get my NAS mounted using NFS but the library remained empty. SMB mounts caused some weird errors. My mistake was to give the path as "volume1/music" as seen somewhere else. Changing this to "music" fixed things.

I was sorry to learn about Runeaudios and Volumios history - I think what you are doing is great, love your project and utterly enjoy listening to my music on my stereo right now. Thanks!
