Postby ads » 11 Dec 2014, 12:24

Hi,
I'm wondering what is the best way for naming my music folders.

this one : Artist/Album/1rst song.flac ...
of this one Artist - Album/1rst song.flac ...
or another one ?
any suggested tool to manage tags, cover etc .. ?

Thanks.

Regards

I personally use my own convention for file names:

Artist / [Year] Album / Artist - [Track number] Title

but it's really up to you.

The best tag editor for Windows in my opinion is Mp3tag:

That's correct - RuneAudio library view relies on whichever folder structure you have in your mount and when displaying the actual tracks, it will pull the name from the ID3 TITLE tag.
Therefore, for example. you can have a folder named 'My Favourite Album of the Century' with some files in it.
In the Library RuneAudio will display a folder with the same name ('My Favourite Album of the Century' in our example), and all the tracks in there will be displayed showing the TITLE Tag name, not how you have named the actual files.
In the Now Playing page it will show in three separate lines, the ARTIST, TITLE and ALBUM tags.

This way you are free to create whichever folder structure and file naming convention you wish, but RuneAudio will display only the relevant info for the specific track being played, regardless on where it is actually stored in your mount.

When you browse in "by file" mode (the default) MPD will present your indexed files with the same structure you decided to use. So it's up to you.
