Access to USB attached HDD

Postby Grundgütiger » 02 Apr 2016, 18:10

Sorry to bring this up again and in a new post, but this problem drives me crazy and I don't want to completely hijack other people's forum posts.

I just can't access the USB drive that is mounted to the Raspberry Pi from the Mac's Finder. Right now I use the 0.4 version and can open the MusicStore volume. There are five folders: LocalStorage, NAS, Podcast, USB, and Webradio. Opening the USB folder shows my hard drive but in the beginning only with a minus symbol and I couldn't open it, as I didn't had the permission doing so. With the PathFinder app I could gather information about the rights I had and re-gave them those same rights, as they were the correct rights. After that I somehow was able to access the folder using the cifs command instead of plain smb. Now I can access my USB hard drive but I only have about 185 MB free space left, which is not the free space the nearly empty 1TB hard drive has.

Thanks, Frank!

No, according to the system there is not enough space for adding music files - I tried. I don't understand why this is such a problem, as the Mac's operating system is based on Unix. By the way, copying files to the USB drive worked with other Raspberry Pi audio solutions.

I think, I give up for now and try something else to listen to music. I guess you need to be a MS Windows user plus some kind of a coder for "easy to use" and "ready to use" Runeaudio.

It's sad, I liked Runeaudio, but I never wanted to spend so much time fiddeling with the computer stuff - I just want to listen to music (in a certain way). Also I don't want to steal so much time from others.

Cheers and thanks for everything. I really enjoyed the time being here and appreciate all the help I got.

hi, is there any solution to this problem ? I have exactly the same issue on Windows 10. When i try to copy a folder/album at once i get this error. When i copy song by song, it works....

EDIT:

i`m using Microsofts "SyncToy" as a workarround. This tool syncs networkfolders and does this file by file....

After two hours of having the same issue with internal storage MusicStore only displaying I managed to find the fix under /etc/samba/smb.conf once you make this changes dont try runeaudio.local under your network shares you will have to do the raspberry pi`s own address and you will be able to see both the external storage and the MusicStore. Hope that helps ;)
