MPD Clients on BlackBerry 10

Postby skrodahl » 23 Jul 2014, 10:10

On my BlackBerry Z30, OS version 1.2.1.3247, I have tested various Android MPD clients. My two favourites are MPDroid (or Mupeace which is based on MPDroid, but MPDroid is a bit less cluttered) and MPD Control.

Apps that work without any problems:
    MPDroid
    Mupeace
    MPD Control
    DroidMPD

Works, but with issues (not limited to BB10):
MPRemote MPD client (Free) (works but gives the annoying "Get Google Play services" all the time. )
MPD Remote (works, but the interface and features are absolutely horrible.)
    PMix
bitMPC (Force quits now and then. Pretty basic interface, uses only folder view like RuneAudio, which could make it easier to navigate.)

Apps that are not working:
MPDMan (will not connect to MPD server.)
MPC (needs to update the MPD library from the settings to show library, then hangs/needs to restart to use it. No "now playing" or playlist view.)

Not tested:
    Pebble-MPC (I don't have a Pebble smartwatch)

Apps that show cover art: MPD Control, MPRemote MPD client (Free).

The Android apps were installed using the Snap Google Play client.

Can these apps show cover arts from local http servers like MPDroid?

I didn't touch any settings in the apps, so I'm guessing they get cover art from the Internet or, like RuneAudio, extract it from the ID3-tag.
