Thanks for the link. So the needed modules are already included and I don't need to recompile the kernel :)

It's a bit of a leap to order the connectionless board with no adapters, but I wanted it to fit in a normal case and have phono out - this is a cheapo mixnmatch from https://www.modmypi.com but works very well. No raspberry pi components have been removed, and it all fits.

This is a really great how to enable the hifiberry in Rune - not mine but I found it helpful.

Another solution would be just updating the kernel, it would leave the rest of the distro untouched: http://archlinuxarm.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=6841

No idea why they are talking about linux-kirkwood there. Kirkwood is a Marvell SoC, while the RPi uses a Broadcom SoC.

It seems I should have tested this solution first, but I won't be able to this week. Sorry about the confusion.

To upgrade just the kernel I've used these commands:
Code: Select all
pacman -Sy linux-raspberrypi linux-api-headers kmod
pacman -Sy linux-firmware raspberrypi-firmware-bootloader raspberrypi-firmware-bootloader-x raspberrypi-firmware-tools

I have just enabled HiFiBerry Digi with success following the guidelines given in the previous posts. Everything is working fine except AirPlay that is not functioning anymore. Any ideas?
