Crackles & Pops - USB output to DAC

Postby bugula » 22 Feb 2015, 05:22

Hi –

Just got up and running tonight on my B+ and everything went smoothly. I'm hooked up to my Chord Hugo and I've played files from both a connected USB drive and from NAS connection to my iMac. In both cases they're coming through with a bunch of crackle and pops (definitely not heard regularly in the source).

I've tried the different volume settings found in MPD with no change - has anyone else fixed this problem in the past?

It sounds like it's a packet loss issue from the number of requests hitting the USB bus - I guess I could add the S/PDIF board and give optical a shot but most of my equipment (aside from the Hugo) runs from USB.

Thanks for any help!

I ever have this problem. And i solve it by over clock pi to 1G and now it work well. It rarely has crack sound but a lot less than not over clock pi.
now i order pi2 and hope that more powerful CPU will solve this problem
