Syncronised playback between runeaudio devices

Hi,

A feature i would be really interested in is synchronized playback ala Sonos or Squeezebox.

There has been attempts like mpdsync ( https://github.com/nickpegg/mpdsync )
and it would be great if something like that could be included in the RuneAudio distribution.

Best regards

Jesper

This could be considered in an advanced stage, we are currently focusing on system performance (to get the best sound quality) and interface usability.
First we should consider if MPD protocol permits a real time communication between multiple players, with the lowest possible latency. To have a perfect synchronization I think they should rely on a sort of a clock signal... but I'm not an expert so I can't tell you right now.
If anyone wants to contribute to this feature... welcome aboard :)

I like this feature as well (Squeeze Server does something similar). It would allow me to use two (or more) RunePis to play separately, but have them all synced if desired.

The best way would be to use pulseaudio, multiroom pulseaudio support even includes correction of playback based on network latency etc.

Syncing the Rune audio would be just switching to the mpd output to the pulseaudio-network sink
