have not tried personally but is highly recommended by many HiFi and high end users.

Thanks Rikardo for pointing to the Forum. I have read the 10 pages superficially and it sounds as if it's for a Raspi with DAC, specifically the iPi-DAC+ worth a try.

This suppose to be a top quality PSU but is a bit pricey

Good for eliminating noise originating on the crappy AC power lines most of us have to use. But only a partial solution in this case (Pi+hat DAC). It does not help (or not much) with noise generated after the power supply, and at the Pi. The SNR at the line out is still worse than it could be.

A basic linear power supply with a shielded toroidal transformer, a good low-noise rectifier, regulator, and combination of bulk and low ESR electrolytic caps is hard to beat, but unfortunately, $$ unless you build it yourself.

I saw that, someone posted a link earlier this year, and I have seen some of his other reviews. I agree with him on the power supply (and most other things).

However, I am not sure about using conductive foam as a shield. Especially when you can make your own with a couple layers of copper foil, and plastic (so it does not short to the pins on the bottom of the DAC).

The basic problem is that Hans B. spends more on audio gear than other people do on a car or a house. So, duplicating his results is out of reach for most people.

he actually said he tried it but the results were no good hence the proper linear PSU is the only way to really improve the sound of the DAC.

thats what I saying I speak 4 languages but none is perfect even my native Slovak

Thanks guys for your opinions. I know the videos of Hans. Most of them are well-founded and comprehensible. DIY would also be a possibility. I actually want something that fits both the size and the cost of the RasPi. The PSU is meant for "HiFi 2" from my footer.
