HDMI output flickering

Hi,

I just started 0.4 Beta on PI3. It boots up, but from the first second, the connected screen (normal monitor with HDMI-VGA adapter) keeps flickering. I can somehow see a picture, but something seems to be wrong with the timing. I have also a Pifi digi+ connected at the same time.

Its not a HW issue, because if I boot with another SD card with Libreelec, everything works fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Archi

Hi Archi,

The problem is your HDMI to VGA adapter.
Please try to tweak the HDMI settings in /boot/config.txt.
I would start with "hdmi_group" and "hdmi_mode".
Code: Select all
#   DMT
hdmi_group=2
#  1280x768   60 Hz
hdmi_mode=23

For more and detailed information please read this.

Not yet. Thanks for the hints anyway.

When I do this the screen stays dark. I also tried disabling CEC and hdmi_save without success. Later I will look into the config. txt of Libreelec and see whats the difference.

Also found some LIRC settings in the config. Maybe I get also that part running. Stay tuned :-)

Hi.
I am using a generic HDMI to VGA converter, tried the parameters proposed by hondagx35,and voila!, the Rpi Zero W works fine.
After 4 hours of usage works fine.
I hope this will be useful for you.
Note: For your reference, the HDMI-VGA converter I use, does not use external power.
Regards.
