Webradio stream help

Postby boydwilluk » 23 Apr 2016, 15:09

Hello,

Can anyone help with a web radio station problem.

I am trying to connect to a local UK station called Two Lochs Radio

If I enter the following stream in VLC, or iTunes, it works. But it does not work when I enter it in Runeaudio.

http://149.255.59.164:8020/stream

(I have lots of other stations working, so it is not a connection, hardware or software problem, just some sort of problem with the link.)

Regards,

Boydwilluk

Hi boydwilluk,

your URL works perfect with my setup.

http://149.255.59.164:8020/stream

I also added "Two Loch Radio" to the Dirble station list.

if your radio does not work when you adding through the web GUI try to add it manually into /mnt/MPD/Webradio
so for this radio unpack this and copy into that folder
Two Lochs Radio.pls.7z

Hello Frank,

This is very strange!

I checked the entry in /mnt/MPD/Webradio. It is Two Lochs Radio.pls, and the contents are correct. But the station does not play.

I then tried your new entry on Dirble - still won't play.

I tried adding a new entry to the list, with a different title, but same URL - it still won't play.

Regards,

Boyd.

Hi Boyd,

it still won't play.

What does this exactly mean?
Do you get some output on the playback screen?
Does the "time-knob" show any progress?

Hello Frank,

The station name displays correctly, the time circle advances, but there is no sound.

Hello Frank,

I had another attempt at fixing this problem today.

I discovered that if I use the following URL, Two Lochs Radio works on my Raspbery Pi / HiFiBerry / Runeaudio setup

http:149.255.59.164:8034/stream - this stream is in aacPlus/AAC format

the original stream that I could not get to work - http:149.255.59.164:8020/stream is in mp3 format.

Any suggestions as to why one stream works, but not the other?

Regards

Hi Boydwilluk,

i tried booth URL and booth work like they should on my RP2 with a Hifiberry DAC+.

OK, i read your older posts again.
The problem is that you are using a Hifiberry AMP+.

This is the first stream:
Code: Select all
access: RW_INTERLEAVED
format: S24_LE
subformat: STD
channels: 2
rate: 22050 (352800/16)
period_size: 3675
buffer_size: 11025

and here the second:
Code: Select all
access: RW_INTERLEAVED
format: S16_LE
subformat: STD
channels: 2
rate: 44100 (352800/8)
period_size: 4410
buffer_size: 22050

As the Amp supports only 44.1 and 48kHz, 22kHz won't play natively.
You need to convert these to 44.1kHz.

This can be done by modifying mpd.conf.
Please read this.
Change 96000 to 44100 and replace "snd_rpi_hifiberry_digi" with "snd_rpi_hifiberry_amp"
