nas connected, does not add to playlist or play music

I am to connect to a nas (my normal and test) and I used to be able to play from an external source. normally when I add a song/cd it shows in the playlist or on the main screen. I confirmed it does work that way when the local usb drive is the source, the issue occurs when use the nas as the source. it seems the update I last ran had an unintended issue of not allowing nas to be used
