first i had some problems because i didn't see the need of an extra ext4 partition

i have not tried everything but I find it very nice ,
one thing missing for me is the screensaver for local browser
on 0.5 there was an option to switch off the screen (in the power menu)
is there a way to switch off the screen?

To be released soon: RuneAudio+R e2
- Drop persistent data on ext4 USB.
    - Store directly on SD card.
    - Migrate existing database and settings with an addon
- Support all versions of Raspberry Pi:
    - Image files: Zero, 1, 2, 3 and 4 (except 3+)
    - Build procedure: All versions (not yet tested on 3+ but should work)
Screen-off button next to Power menu works again.

Hello everyone,

I develop a small streamer for a visually impaired friend of mine. After trying different software packages (Volumio, Moode), Runeaudio has turned out to be the most capable software for this. I use infrared remote via LIRC, combined with speech synthesys feedback. Via the IR remote my friend can choose predefined playlists, tracks etc. Through text to speech (espeak package) he can hear track being played. Works nicely!

I used Runeaudio beta 0.5 succesfully for this setup on Raspberry Pi 2B. Controlling MPD directly through Lirc is what I needed. There is one thing that did not work, my Tp-Link Archer T2U wifi adapter is not supported. I found out that driver is included from kernel 4.19.

Then I came this Re1 software. Wifi adapter works! But... playlists are not saved. It says it does in the webinterface, but when I select the folder icon in the queue, nothings shows up. Also /var/lib/mpd/playlists stays empty.
I reinstalled, did full update through addons menu, but is just does not work. I install through the Balene Etcher app on Mac to SD card, just like I always did with other software, even tried Pi Baker burning sw on Mac, same result.

Any hints?
Version used is RuneAudio+R_e1.2.img.xz 29/9/19
What is perhaps interesting is that when I chose update in the Addons menu, some errors were shown concerning file ownership in the /mnt/USB/... directories, including ..../playlists. Could it have anything to do with that?

Hi Petestorms,

is your USB-Stick formatted as EXT4? Extra directories need Linux's ownership handling to work properly.
But I think you should wait for next version - many issues are gone there ...

Hi Andy,
USB drive is formatted as FAT.
I will wait for the new release, and use B0.5 in the meantime ;)

Hi rern,

thanks for your new version - works like a charm out of the box (RPi 3 with HifiBerry DAC+)!
"old" data-folder was restored correctly via copy+runerestore.sh

-> IMHO best version so far.

regards, Andy

Hi Rern

Thanks for this new release, works for me out of the box too on RPi 3 with AudIODAC+. The only suggestion I would make would be to clarify the instructions needed to copy the existing setting etc from the USB drive. For me this was:

cp -r /mnt/MPD/USB/DataDisk/* /srv/http/data

(as I had named my USB drive 'DataDisk' when formating it to Ext4).

Many thanks

Chris

Excellent work!

Encountered a few little quirks, nothing major. Will report them after I'm done playing around.

Hi
Pi Zero Re2, Airplay only works if player is in stop mode. 0.5b version switches automatically. i2's sound card selection is a bit complicated.
